Play Your PC Games Anywhere Through Steam Link

Are you a fan of the Steam PC games like Cuphead, Sonic Mania, Overcooked, Gang Beasts, and Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime? Then you will love the new Steam Link Anywhere as it allows you to play steam mobile games on your Android device regardless of where you are under the same local internet network.

Originally, Valve’s Steam Link system required you to use a physical box, plug it into a television, and connect to a gaming computer to enjoy the game at the comfort of your couch. With the new improvement, you can use your Android phone, tablet, and TV to access the PC games you love and play them from anywhere as long as you have high-speed internet connectivity and a home computer to stream the games from.

Contrary to the earlier version of Steam Link gaming, which required the PC and the device streaming the PC games to be in the same home network, the currently updated Steam Link Anywhere allows you to stream the mobile games in or outside your house using the same local network.

How it works

1. Availability of Android devices and a PC

Like the previous version of Steam Link that was effective only in one room, this upgraded version of Steam Link Anywhere also needs to use host computers running Steam Big Picture mode on Windows, macOS, or Ubuntu to work with the Android devices using the Android Steam Link app. The desktop or laptop has to be paired to a Bluetooth controller or Steam controller to your Android devices running on the same local network.

2. Good internet connectivity from a high-speed router or wired Ethernet

Having a robust network is a must for Steam link streaming to perform highly and for you to enjoy playing your favorite mobile games. For the best performance of the Android devices, you will have to connect your laptop or desktop and the Android phone, TV, or tablet to the robust Wi-Fi router. For efficiency, you have to use your Android devices within a reasonable range from your router to maintain fast internet connectivity.

3. Download the upgraded version of Steam Link

On your desktop, you have to download the beta version of Steam to your host computer and install the Steam Link beta for Android devices for a better experience and stream the games from the computer to the phone or tablet.

4. Configuration of Steam Link

After downloading and installing the latest Steam Link version on your computer and Android devices, you have to start the configuration on the host computer and the speakers, controllers, and display of the Android devices.

The next step will be the host computer and Android phone’s initial setup to ensure they are connected through a strong wireless network. Afterward, open the Steam Link app on your Android phone, select the host computer, ensure the controllers are visible and select start playing, which will launch Steam Big Picture Mode on the host computer.

At this point, your Android phone will be controlling the computer for as long as the internet connection is available to uphold the Steam Link connection.

Another option is to stream from the Android mobile phone, which you will open the Steam Link Android app and link it to the host desktop or laptop. Enter the four-digit PIN, connect to the Steam Big Picture mode, select the different control methods, tap on settings, then controller, and use the touch input to select a game and play.

5. Ready, go on to play.

Finally, you can navigate through the menu by either using a joystick or a directional pad. Now you can select browse in the Steam Store to choose a game under a category of your liking as you will now have access to more than 5000 games in Steam. Select one game and play it as long as you wish.

The bad news goes to IOS users as they cannot access the Steam link app on their phones.
